BIODIESEL FROM MICROALGAE: THE ENERGY THAT WILL MOVE TOMORROW
Starting with sunlight, mineral salts, water and CO2, microalgae grow with yields that are unthinkable in land crops. Biomass from microalgae is used to obtain fatty acids that are transformed into biodiesel; and sugars/proteins that can be used for feeding humans and animals. From more than 4,000 strains evaluated in terms of their potential for producing biodiesel, Biomar has now selected several candidates in order to begin their industrial development.
